Role Overview: As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in supporting the financial and contractual elements of various public sector projects. You'll be responsible for managing costs, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and supporting project teams in achieving successful outcomes. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and organized professional who can balance multiple projects and priorities. Key Responsibilities: Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for various stages of public sector projects. Assist in setting budgets, ensuring that costs align with initial forecasts, and identify potential cost-saving opportunities. Cost Control and Management: Implement robust cost management practices throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring transparency and value for money. Monitor project expenditures, identify cost variances, and provide detailed reports to stakeholders. Procurement and Tendering: Manage procurement processes, including preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and negotiating contracts. Ensure that all procurement activities are compliant with public sector procurement regulations and organizational policies. Contract Administration: Oversee the administration of contracts, including preparing contract documents, tracking key deliverables, and supporting the resolution of contractual issues. Ensure adherence to terms and mitigate any risks associated with contract performance. Risk and Compliance Management: Evaluate and manage potential project risks, providing recommendations to mitigate them. Ensure compliance with public sector policies, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards. Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise effectively with project teams, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders. Act as a trusted advisor, providing guidance on cost control, project efficiency, and contract compliance to ensure successful project delivery. Essential Skills and Experience: Professional Background: Proven experience in quantity surveying, ideally within a public sector setting. Familiarity with public sector contracts and procurement guidelines is highly advantageous. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of quantity surveying principles, cost management, and project control methodologies. Proficient in using industry-standard software for cost estimation and project management. Attention to Detail: Exceptional analytical skills with a keen eye for detail, allowing for accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting. Communication and Negotiation: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly. Strong negotiation skills, with experience handling contract discussions. Qualifications: A professional qualification in Quantity Surveying (e.g., RICS-accredited degree or equivalent experience) is preferred.
