A leading construction consultancy based in Bristol is seeking an experienced and motivated Principal Designer to join their expanding team. This consultancy is renowned for delivering high-quality, innovative solutions across a wide range of sectors, offering exceptional services in health and safety, CDM compliance, and design risk management.
The Principal Designer Role
As the Principal Designer, you will be responsible for ensuring that all health and safety risks are managed effectively during the design process and throughout the lifecycle of various projects. You will provide CDM advice and leadership, working closely with clients, design teams, and contractors to ensure compliance with CDM 2015 regulations. This role offers the chance to work on high-profile projects in the Bristol area and contribute to the ongoing success of the consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
1. Deliver Principal Designer duties in accordance with CDM 2015 regulations.
2. Provide expert advice on health and safety risks during the design phase.
3. Prepare and review pre-construction information, risk assessments, and construction phase plans.
4. Lead design risk management and ensure effective hazard elimination.
5. Collaborate with clients, architects, and contractors to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
6. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor safety performance.
7. Support and mentor junior staff members as part of the team's development.
The Principal Designer
1. Degree in a construction-related field.
2. NEBOSH Construction Certificate or equivalent qualification.
3. Chartered Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, or APS) is preferred.
4. Proven experience as a Principal Designer in the construction industry.
5. Strong knowledge of CDM 2015 regulations and health and safety best practices.
6. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
7. Ability to manage multiple projects and work within tight deadlines.
8. Proficient in relevant software and tools.
