Role Overview:
Polam Hall School wishes to appoint a forward-thinking and enthusiastic full-time English Teacher as Head of the Languages and Literature Faculty to commence in September 2025.
The Role:
We seek an experienced English teacher who is passionate about the subject and about learning, to take on the exciting role of Head of Languages and Literature Faculty in the secondary phase of our all-through school. The successful candidate will have high expectations of students and staff, be ambitious for their students, and be able to collaboratively lead a team of subject specialists. You will have the knowledge and energy to inspire students by developing high-quality curricula, teaching, and learning. The post would suit an existing Head of English or a leader within an English Department who is ready to broaden their experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead the teaching of English and Modern Foreign Languages in our Senior School.
2. Collaborate with an Assistant Head of Faculty and a KS3 English Lead.
3. Teach English to GCSE level.
4. Drive improvement in student achievement in English and MFL.
5. Work closely with the Junior School English Lead for progression across phases.
6. Contribute to whole school literacy and oracy initiatives.
7. Engage in extra-curricular activities.

Polam Hall School is a 4 – 16 all-through academy and is part of Woodard Academies Trust. We have 840 pupils on roll, with one and a half forms of entry in our Primary Phase and four forms in our Secondary Phase. Our mission is to educate the whole child, developing leadership, compassion, character, and academic ambition.
