Junior Service Engineer
Calibre Scientific/Conex Chromatography Systems Ltd (a Calibre Scientific Company). Our company specialises in laboratory test instrumentation sales and service, we are based in central Scotland and operate throughout the UK, providing engineering support and test services within a variety of sectors including healthcare, life sciences, food & drink, energy and pharmaceutical industry.
We are seeking a dedicated Junior Service Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate would show a solid technical aptitude, either through practical experience or personal pursuits - with a genuine interest in science and related areas such as software platforms, coding, 3D printing, or similar activities. The function of this role is to provide in-house engineering support for clients and field service engineers, and supporting the wider team responsible for the installation, fault finding/repair, preventative maintenance and performance verification testing of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), Gas Chromatography (GC) and Mass Spectrophotometry (MS) instrumentation at customer sites and company workshop based at Biocity Scotland. With appropriate training and aptitude this role has the potential to lead to a field service position.

Key Responsibilities:
· Exchange parts rebuild and testing within workshop – setup test systems
· Repair of instruments returned for repair – with senior engineer guidance
· Prepare systems for sale and test and then shipping these
· Prepare software packages on new pc's
· Parts collection and sending of sales parts to clients or engineers – using courier platforms
· Stock control and ordering – From suppliers
· Support engineers in all tasks – including delivering parts locally to engineers as required
· Collection of faulty instruments from clients
· Website updates, listing of new (reconditioned) instruments
· Inhouse PAT testing, HS checks
· In house lab testing of client samples
Person Specification:
Education : Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or a related science field / equivalent experience.
Person: We are seeking candidates who demonstrate a strong technical inclination, whether through hands-on experience or hobbies. A keen personal interest in coding, 3D printing, or electronic projects will be considered. A proactive approach to learning new technical skills are highly valued. Individuals who enjoy building and creating with tools like Arduino, or who have engaged in personal tech projects, will thrive in this role. Your ability to innovate and apply technical knowledge to real-world challenges is essential, as is good time management and organisation.
We also welcome candidates with experience working in a GXP or compliant analytical laboratory environment looking for a change of career path. Of importance is an ability to work independently and to communicate effectively at all levels with external customers and internal staff.

Driving License : Must hold a full valid driving license.
Location: Hybrid (Mainly office-based in Airdrie, Glasgow / On-site locations within the UK, primarily Scotland/Glasgow area)
