We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about women's health and has a passion to be involved in continuing to develop the services provided in gynaecology outpatients.
As an experienced nurse, you will be working with a friendly and motivated team of Registered and non-registered nursing staff, and working with Matron in Gynaecology in supporting Clinical Nurse Specialists in their roles.
The role involves working clinically in a variety of clinics gaining competence in these areas. The role will also involve the management of the unit, which includes attendance and absence management, roster management, change management, service improvement, and being a role model for the junior and multi-disciplinary team.

1. To be proactive, flexible, visible, and provide the highest possible standard of patient care, acting in supporting the management and organisation of the gynaecology services.
2. Ensure safe and responsive gynaecological care, through the assessment of care needs and the ongoing evaluation of implemented services.
3. Act as a role model and work collaboratively and co-operatively with the multi-disciplinary team to meet the needs of patients, carers, and their families.
4. Organise and participate in the education, development, and supervision of all members of staff and ensure compliance to mandatory training.

Job responsibilities
The Junior Sister will maintain a nursing culture which is open to change, new ideas, concepts, and innovations.
The Junior Sister will:
1. Strive for continuous improvements in the delivery of high quality patient-focused care.
2. Participate within the ward team including the delegation of work on a day-to-day basis for junior staff.
3. Act as clinical expert providing specialist knowledge and advice to both nurses and medical staff working within the unit.
4. Organise own workload and support junior staff to time manage and prioritise.
5. Plan and manage skill mix to reflect the workload and meet the needs of the patients, including using the e-rostering system effectively.
6. Actively participate in the department budget and with support from matron exercise care and economy in the ordering and use of supplies/equipment.
7. Participate in the development and delivery of a philosophy of care which involves/respects the rights of patients, carers, and staff.
8. Lead by example, motivate and empower others.
9. Promote effective communication when liaising with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
10. Relate to all staff and patients in a confident manner, demonstrating good listening skills and work effectively as part of a team.
11. Act as a positive ambassador for the Trust, always promoting the best clinical and professional practice.
12. Create, maintain, and enhance effective working relationships and collaborative working within the ward/department and across professional boundaries with the Trust.

14. Take responsibility for maintaining staff records e.g. sickness, annual leave, taking appropriate action where necessary.
15. Take responsibility in the orientation/induction of new staff, nursing students, allied health professionals, and medical staff.
16. Mentor and supervise pre and post-registered staff; demonstrate procedures to pre and post-registered nursing staff without direct supervision, always promoting a high standard of best practice, quality nursing care.
17. Ensure that nursing practices comply with Trust policies and procedures and are maintained at the highest standard.
18. Within the frame of clinical governance, to be proactive in responding to and investigating complaints, clinical and non-clinical incidents to ensure robust systems are in place for informing and improving evidence-based practice.
19. Respond to patient, relatives, and carers concerns as they arise and take action as required.
20. Assist in maintaining a safe clinical environment through participation in risk management processes, through audit, risk assessment, managing, reporting, and investigating incidents.
21. Maintain an awareness of national and regional initiatives.
22. Participate in supporting individual performance review processes.
23. Foster good relationships to achieve and maintain high morale for both staff and patients.
24. Provide feedback to the matron nurse on individual staff progression or identify any concerns and document.
25. Monitor health, safety, and security of self and others and promote best practice in the clinical area.
26. Act as an innovative, enthusiastic role model providing leadership, guidance, and advice to staff on operational and professional issues promoting an open and honest and transparent culture.
