About this role: The Security Operations Engineering team provides support to the Incident Detection and Response processes of Just Eat Takeaway.com, by enhancing the capabilities of the CSOC (Cyber Security Operation Centre), through integrations, detection engineering, and automation, and occasionally when needed directly supporting or leading incident response. It’ll be your role to lead the team in its day to day activities, balancing operational support with the delivery of strategic projects. There is definitely the space and expertise available in the team to learn and develop some of the skills on the job. This means we’re looking for candidates with either of the following backgrounds, with the willingness and enthusiasm to gain experience in the other: Experience working in project driven engineering teams Either as a Technical Manager or Senior Engineer or above looking to change roles Experience working in Incident Response processes Either as an Incident Manager or Senior Incident Responder or above looking to change roles This role requires someone who is able to bring positivity and calm to difficult situations, acting as incident manager when needed, either up front, or in a supporting role as needed. You should have a very operations focused mindset, able to prioritise security engineering work against other scheduled regular duties in a dynamic environment. You’ll support the correct functioning of the CSOC by ensuring tooling and data are fit for purpose. You’ll also have a hand in defining and reporting on team metrics and other routine activities to key stakeholders. The successful candidate is someone who has a passion for supporting their team, helping them to be the best they can be. These are some of the key ingredients to the role: Facilitate planning activities that help deliver on strategic goals Balance planned work with operational support to ensure engineering projects are delivered are met, while supporting operational requirements from the business Act as a security incident manager when needed, coordinating the activities of people from potentially multiple teams within a well practised business wide process Line management of a small team - play a meaningful role in their professional development Partner with our experienced Lead Engineer to ensure the Security Operations architecture is fit for organisational purpose Define, improve, and communicate Security Operations Engineering & Incident Management principles and processes Define and collect Security Operations Engineering task and incident metrics - you’ll have a hand in saying what to collect and why. Be able to use these to effectively communicate needs, risks and successes to a variety of stakeholders Collaborate with your stakeholders across the business; there are teams we work with regularly, and other that just need to know we are available to support them Champion Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging initiatives in the Information Security department or wider business Contribute to the strategic direction in collaboration with SecOps leadership What will you bring to the table? Effectively translate and accurately communicate across technical and non-technical stakeholders One of the following, with a willingness to learn the other: Experience working with incident response processes Either directly as part of the incident management team or indirectly as an owner of a system with a high availability requirements Experience required in working in engineering based projects Security, Platform, Software or Network domains would be ideal but not essential Preferably around systems with high availability requirements, but not essential if you can demonstrate time constrained work The role would be to manage the delivery and prioritisation of the team's projects, but we’re open to candidates who want to make the move to this from other roles (e.g. Senior Engineer) Line management experience would be good to have, or be ‘ready’ to move into that role Experience working with the Agile framework in project planning and task management Operational focus - dealing with things happening right now; prioritising current effort and preparing for future possibilities Experience with security solutions such as SIEM, SOAR, EDR, WAF Experience with threat intelligence and/or vulnerability reporting - turning intelligence into action Passionate about security; staying well informed of important information security developments Experience in using data for metrics - understanding what to collect, why, and for who At JET, this is on the menu: Our teams forge connections internally and work with some of the best-known brands on the planet, giving us truly international impact in a dynamic environment.
