What's involved with this role: Interim Environmental Health Officer - Regulatory Services Job Ref: Portsmouth 5253012 Pay Rate: £35.76 per hour PAYE Hours per week: 37 Monday – Friday, TBC Role Length: This opening assignment is for 1-2 months City: PORTSMOUTH Require weekdays/weekday evenings only Flexible working is possible - the officer can work up to 37 hrs per week but this could be 3 working days a week or equivalent split over a shorter working day. Evening working is also possible, and preferred, as a number of premises require inspection out of normal office hours. An Environmental Health Officer is required to carry out food compliance inspections of low and medium risk premises to ensure compliance with UK and international standards for food safety, hygiene and sanitation, together with the issuing of relevant certification and the delivery of follow up enforcement actions. Candidates must have recognised food qualification to carry out food interventions as detailed in Food Standards Agency Food law Code of Practice. Key Responsibilities: Carrying out food compliance inspections of low and medium risk premises to ensure compliance with UK and international standards for food safety, hygiene and sanitation. Issuing relevant certification and the delivery of follow up enforcement actions. Provide advice and guidance. Qualifications: Must have a recognised food qualification to carry out food interventions as detailed in Food Standards Agency Food law Code of Practice. Certificate of Registration of the Environmental Health Officers Registration Board, or equivalent. Experience: A minimum of 2 years' experience in the inspection of food businesses. Demonstrable compliance with CIEH CPD requirements and the FLCofP competency criteria. Skills & Abilities: Good communication skills. An excellent, detailed and up to date working knowledge of legislation and statutory guidance. Flexible to work some evenings and weekends as required.
