The Fleet and Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of bus/fleet vehicles. The manager also serves as the primary contact concerning the bus fleet and operations. The Manager will make the ultimate decision whether a bus is safe to have on the road.
The successful candidate is responsible for:
* Planning and optimizing routes. Developing and implementing fuel management procedures such as providing fuel cards to drivers or vehicles. Managing driver safety programs, including ensuring proper licensing, training, and vehicle operation
* Ensuring that fixed-route bus services provided by the agency maintain the highest standards of safety, student satisfaction, student needs, efficiency, and overall excellence in service delivery
* Coordinate group travel with drivers, assign trips to driver, ensure communication.
* Schedule, recruit, maintain appropriate drivers for university vehicles. This would include setting up random drug testing of all drivers
* Process driver payroll forms, travel documents and other related financial documents
* Perform other related duties as assigned
* Coordinate transportation to and from area airports, including the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience in creating and establishing Bus fleet policies and procedures
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software
Basic mechanical knowledge of vehicles
Ability to communicate effectively
Ability to demonstrate good interpersonal skills with students, faculty, staff and community
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years experience or relevant experience. A Commercial Driver’s License ( CDL ) with a 24 plus passenger endorsement is required. Previous or current public transportation or experience with large passenger vehicles is preferred.
