Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative

Our apprenticeship programme offers a fantastic opportunity to gain an industry-recognized qualification as well as paid employment so you can “earn while you learn”. You will attend college on a day or block release basis and put your acquired knowledge and skills into practice “on the job” whilst working with your Trade mentor. On completion of your apprenticeship, you will be supported to progress into a permanent trade role within the team to continue your career and development journey.

The Role
We are delighted to confirm that we are looking for an Apprentice Property Maintenance Operative to join our Orbit Housing contract, working in Rugby and the surrounding areas.
Joining an established apprenticeship scheme, we will provide a clear plan around your development that will support you to succeed to your full potential.
Assessment Centres will be held at our Orbit office in Stratford on March 26th or 27th 2025, however, there may be other dates available.
The start date will be September 2nd 2025, with a 2-day corporate induction at our Head Offices in Hitchin, followed by further induction and training at the Birmingham branch location.
The apprenticeship college course will commence shortly after your induction.
Duties & Responsibilities
As an Apprentice at Fortem Solutions, you will work alongside a Trade mentor, and you will:
1. Carry out a varied range of tasks within the maintenance team assisting colleagues as required.
2. Carry out planned, responsive, or temporary repairs to buildings and their immediate surroundings to make buildings safe and secure for their occupants or clients.
3. Carry out minor tiling and flooring activities or repairs using a variety of materials, tools, adhesives, and sealants.
4. Deliver remedial painting and decorating works to a range of surfaces, ensuring the appropriate and safe use of compounds, materials, tools, and access equipment.
5. Complete minor plastering repairs using appropriate materials and surface finishing techniques.
6. Use Carpentry and Joinery skills to complete minor repairs or refurbishment to fixtures within and around properties, such as doors, windows, frames, worktops, ensuring associated fixtures and fittings are selected, installed, or repaired, and working correctly.
7. Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance, minor repairs, and replacement of components within water, environmental and energy management systems in accordance with current legislation, industry standards, and with the manufacturers' requirements.
