Role Overview:
We are seeking an Operations Manager to take charge of our weekend delivery operations and manage weekday preparations behind the scenes. This role is vital to the smooth execution of our deliveries, ensuring riders and packers are managed effectively, and all orders (over 1,500 weekly, or about 750 per day on the weekend) are routed and delivered with precision. You’ll work closely with suppliers, manage a delivery team of 20+ riders a day, as well as 15+ packers to ensure everything is ready for peak performance at the weekend. You will also work directly with the COO, offering great exposure to the operational side of the business and opportunities for learning and growth.
In this role, you will be supported by a Packing Coordinator, a Dispatch Team and a Teardown Coordinator to help manage the packing and delivery processes effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Weekend Operations (Saturday & Sunday, Midnight to 9am):
* Oversee weekend operations by managing staff, coordinating suppliers, and ensuring everyone follows procedures and stays on schedule.
* Coordinate with our customer service team to keep them updated of developments that happen on shift.
* Provide real-time feedback and training to team members, promoting continuous improvement.
* Ensure productivity across all areas by effectively guiding and motivating a team of 25 delivery riders and 15 packers.
* Ensure over 1,500 orders are packed and delivered across the weekend.
Weekday Operations (9am to 5pm, 3 weekdays):
* Manage supply chain logistics, placing orders with suppliers and ensuring everything is ready for the weekend.
* Coordinate bike maintenance schedules to ensure all equipment is prepared, though you won't handle repairs directly.
* Plan and route all deliveries ahead of weekend shifts, ensuring accurate and efficient execution.
* Monitor team performance and ensure operational readiness by preparing the 30-50 packers and riders for weekend shifts.
Requirements:
* Experience in logistics, depot management, or delivery operations.
* Proven leadership experience in fast-paced environments.
* Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Ability to work well under pressure and resolve issues effectively.
* Availability to work weekend night shifts and flexible weekday hours.
