Job summary Are you a qualified experienced nurse looking to take a new step in your nursing career. This opportunity is for Surgical or Medical Nurses, ideally with experience of caring for people with Diabetes. You will be based at Musgrove Park Hospital and you will also be expected to carry out clinics in our community hospitals. We value our RGNs highly, so development and training within this role will be offered and prioritised. There is an expectation that hours are worked flexibly over a rota basis which does not include weekends and nights. We have full time hours available. You will require good communication skills, a team work approach and be able provide a high standard of nursing care with the support of your team. Main duties of the job You will be expected provide and maintain a high standard of evidence based, patient centred care for people with diabetes both as inpatients and outpatients. Our team is also expected to offer specialist clinical advice and support for colleagues caring for patients with diabetes. You will need to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and to develop practical skills required within the speciality, whilst reflecting the philosophy of care. The role requires you to work within the multidisciplinary team providing holistic care and support for people living with diabetes across Somerset. To deliver patient care on a daily basis, using the systems in place in the department for a multi-disciplinary approach to patient-centred care delivery, which builds on the philosophy of greater involvement of patients and their relatives/carers by using the Trusts patient and public involvement strategy. In the absence of the senior members of the team, you will be expected to once fully trained in the role to offer support to junior members of the team.
