Project Health & Safety Manager
month FTC
Site based at Aintree, with some travel to Manchester
What will this role achieve?
This is an exciting project opportunity with a dynamic and wide-ranging scope across our Aintree and Manchester Facilities. You will be responsible for supporting all aspects of Health & Safety pertaining to an ongoing transformational project shared across the two sites, in line with the group’s systems and policies.
Your role will involve the following:
1. Providing advice, guidance and support against legal frameworks and best practices on project plans
2. Look for improvement opportunities and improved ways of working throughout the project and beyond
3. Assisting sites with incident investigations and disseminating the findings.
4. Providing guidance and support on HSE practices, in particular with regards to construction activity
Introducing a strong awareness in Health & Safety is your utmost priority, and toprovide appropriate advice and support.
What will be your key deliverables?
5. Attend Project forums and company meetings (where required) and support / work with the project leads on existing and any new proposed initiatives.
6. Cultivate a high level of knowledge and expertise in Health & Safety matters in order to provide the Projects Teams, Project SQSE Lead and Site Leadership Teams with advice and support pertaining to project plans.
7. Provide advice and guidance on Health & Safety considerations in relation to training development and roll out plans as a result of the project
8. Support the Drive and Delivery of continuous improvement in all aspects of the business Health & Safety management systems and standards, in line with the group’s systems and policies.
9. Represent the business where required with regulatory Health & Safety authorities. Support the site management teams with regulatory authorities and insurers on key matters such as fire risk assessment and certification, RIDDOR reporting, emergency planning and safety improvement plans.
10. Lead project contractor audits and review the implementation of Health and Safety policies, working practices, safety procedures and standards for all respective work packages and review overarching themes to identify business wide solutions.
11. Ensure risk assessment support, completion and advice pertaining to the project plans.
12. Ensure due consideration is given to the impact on current safety systems and practices as a result of the project
13. Ensure all documentation is compiled correctly and appropriately filed and any actions are followed up and an action plan created
14. Act as site support for the investigation and review of significant accidents, incidents, complaints events, and the identification of solutions to prevent recurrence.
15. Drive close out of issues and non-conformances, feeding into the Crisis Incident Management (CIM) process for Health & Safety issues.
16. Takes an active part in site Health & Safety committees and support the delivery of the Health & Safety agenda for the site.
17. Maintains a high level of knowledge and expertise in Health & Safety matters in order to provide the SQSE Manager and the business with appropriate advice and support.
18. Collate data, information and reports on project Health & Safety performance whilst ensuring accuracy of the data.
19. Act as a visual presence in CDM areas to ensure compliance to SSOW’s and group policies.
20. Provide advise and support pertaining to Environmental compliance and Security throughout the project.
Essential
21. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
22. Proven experience in a Health & Safety role
23. Experienced in the application of CDM, PUWER and Work at Height Regulations
24. Proficient knowledge of Health & Safety Law and its application
Desirable
25. Graduate Membership of IOSH (or working towards)
26. Qualification in Environmental Management - IEMA /NEBOSH
27. Experience in an FMCG manufacturing environment
