The role of a Learning Support Assistant is a special one! You will be providing direct support and assistance to the students in the classroom. These students struggle with additional needs that include autism, ADHD, OCD, school avoidance, stress, and anxiety.
You will provide assistance in either 1 to 1 settings or in small groups. You will provide interventions that will help support the children and teach them healthy ways to cope and regulate their emotions. You will also be involved in helping with the general running of the classroom. This will include assisting the class teacher with setting up lessons, preparing lessons, keeping the classroom tidy and inviting, helping with general supervision, and managing classroom behavior.
The ideal SEN Teaching Assistant will be kind, compassionate, and have a passion for helping children. You will be proactive and take initiative. Many of the children that attend this school have education and health care plans, so you must be able to adapt your approach to meet their needs.
You must have eligibility to work in the UK. We do not offer sponsorships. You must also have an enhanced DBS certificate or be willing to obtain one.
