Senior Internal Auditor
Pepper Advantage is looking for an experienced Internal Auditor to carry out independent appraisals of the effectiveness of policies, procedures and standards by which the organisation’s financial, physical and information resources are managed.
We are looking for candidates with current experience in an Internal Auditor role within the financial services industry.
Some Key Responsibilities
* To complete quality audit reviews on a timely basis to deliver against approved Internal Audit plans.
* To produce reports for each IA test detailing what has been tested, findings and implications for Head of Internal Audit review and approval.
* To make balanced and fully thought out recommendations on the systems and procedures, quality control measures and any other business aspects being reviewed, prepare report on the findings and recommendations.
* To support the Head of Internal Audit in production of Summary reports for relevant committees and Board summarising findings.
* To support the Head of Internal Audit to maintain Issue management system.
* To participate in the annual internal audit planning process.
* To support the Head of Internal Audit to report to both the audit committee and management on the policies, programs and activities of the department.
* To conduct any reviews or tasks requested by Head of Internal Audit arising from request of the Board, the risk management committee or audit committee. To highlight any concerns to Head of Internal Audit if any such requests compromise the independence or objectivity of the internal audit function.
* To support the Head of Internal Audit to provide to both management and the risk management committee with an opinion on the internal controls in the organisation.
* To perform research e.g. into new audit techniques or audit tools, and make recommendations for improvements to IA systems, processes, reporting etc.
Skills & Experience
* Experience as an internal auditor within the financial services industry.
* A knowledge of audit procedures, including planning, techniques, test and sampling methods involved in conducting audits.
* A knowledge of computerised accounting and auditing record keeping systems.
* An ability to gather, analyse and evaluate facts and to prepare and present concise oral and written reports. Use persuasion and influencing skills to demonstrate benefits to be gained in addressing audit findings / improving control environment.
* An ability to maintain current knowledge of developments related to business matters of interest to internal audit, particularly legislation changes and developments as they affect financial services, and new auditing techniques and practices.
* The ability to understand a complex legal and regulatory framework.
* The ability to understand complex financial and insurance, professional indemnity and other business safeguard products.
* Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills, plus excellent organization skills.
* Strong knowledge of the UK mortgage industry.
