The Job
It will be your job to manage the Machinery Workshop, safely leading the team whilst taking full responsibility for the department's budgets, performance, and areas within the building. Working closely with other departments at the branch and within the group to maximise our Workshop efficiency and increase profitability whilse increasing Parts Sales potential based on budgets and targets from all manufacturers, you will build a team who will naturally offer market leading levels service to our internal and external customers.
Your key accountability will be the day to day operation of a busy workshop, covering the following key areas;
* Managing and driving both department standards to develop and maintain industry leading levels of Customer Service to both internal and external customers.
* Ownership of machinery retail areas within the branch
* Proactively growing sales and strengthening margin throughout
* Leading and developing other members of the team and holding them accountable to deliver on targets
* Ensuring that the technicians are fully trained in the latest technology
* Ensuring Telesales and counter service levels are maintained, making use of all available platforms to identify and locate opportunities.
* Increasing the volume of work through the workshop by using tele sales prospecting
* Ensure a safe and compliant working environment - maintaining standards and
* Identify and communicating with potential new customers
* Ensuring a smooth even organised workflow through the workshop
* Maintain efficient internal working practices such as goods inwards and fast moving stock placement. Collaborating with the central machinery management team to work on projects and deliver on budgets.
* Forming and maintaining a key link to other departments within the branch with a key focus on Workshop service levels linked to Workshop Efficiency.
* Maximise margin aspirations by actively managing discounts, suppliers and offers/ordering windows.
* Any other task associated with the efficient operation of a Parts and workshop department.

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALITIES REQUIRED
* Demonstrable experience of supporting people and leading/developing a team in a similar environment.
* Proven Sales experience, ability to confidently sell and advise on products and services.
* Previous track record of driving targets and exceeding expectations
* Previous customer relationship management experience
* Written skills - proven ability to use clear, concise language specific for the purpose and audience
* Confident IT user, including a working knowledge of the following packages: Word, Excel and Outlook.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders
* Ability to influence and manage a diverse team.
* Ability to manage change and to adapt to unexpected demands on a day to day basis.
* Ability to assess priorities and manage competing deadlines both independently and as a member of a team
* Flexibility with working hours during busy season and weekends.
* Full UK Driving License required.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders
* Ability to manage change and to adapt to unexpected demands on a day to day basis.
* Ability to assess priorities and manage competing deadlines both independently and as a member of a team.
* Ability to influence and support with management of a diverse team
* Experience working independently and managing time in a commercial environment.
