Role Overview:
As a KS3 Teacher with SEND experience, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing engaging lessons for Key Stage 3 students, with a focus on supporting pupils with diverse learning needs. You will create an inclusive, supportive, and positive classroom environment where all students can thrive academically and socially. You will work closely with other educators, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and support staff to ensure that students with SEND receive the appropriate support and interventions needed to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver high-quality lessons that meet the needs of all students, including those with SEND.
* Differentiate teaching to ensure that all students, regardless of ability or learning needs, can access the curriculum and make progress.
* Work closely with the SENCO to develop and implement personalised learning plans for students with SEND.
* Monitor and assess student's progress regularly and provide targeted feedback to help them improve.
* Collaborate with support staff to provide additional assistance to students with SEND in the classroom.
* Promote positive behaviour management strategies to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
* Foster a safe, respectful, and engaging classroom where students feel confident and motivated to learn.
* Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and external professionals about the progress and well-being of students with SEND.
* Stay updated on best practices for teaching students with SEND and engage in continuous professional development.
Person Specification:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
* Proven experience teaching Key Stage 3 students, with a focus on SEND.
* A strong understanding of SEND strategies, including differentiation, specific learning disabilities, and how to implement effective interventions.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
* A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach to teaching and learning.
* Ability to create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to plan and deliver lessons tailored to diverse learning needs.
* A commitment to supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of all students.
Desirable:
* Experience working with students with a range of SEND needs, including autism, dyslexia, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
* Additional qualifications or training in SEND (e.g., SENCo qualification, autism awareness, or specific learning difficulty training).
