We have consistently grown our revenues over the past three years for our consultancy business to £2m in 2024, with revenue growth averaging approx. 75% per annum. In addition to pushing on with the growth of these consultancy services, we have a clear strategic plan, endorsed by our Board, to create a business where 80% of revenues derives from our software products over the next three years, and we are just starting to deliver the first of these to market at the end of 2024. We now need a full time Finance Manager to run the finance function for the next phase of the business, ensuring the processes, systems and outputs keep pace with the business as it increases its scale; and the demands of all stakeholders, including external banks, investors and shareholders, are managed effectively. The role reports to the CFO. Currently it is a stand-alone role, though as the business grows further, the Finance Manager will be required to bring in additional resource as and when needed. While there are currently no direct reports, the Finance Manager will be an integral part of the Management Team, so will assist in shaping the business for the future. Tasks and Responsibilities: The Finance Manager will be expected to deliver the following: Key Financial Processes Being responsible for all input into the financial platform in a controlled, timely and orderly manner Management of the purchase and sales ledger ensuring we pay partners and clients pay us on a timely basis and the ledgers are reconciled Check the expenses being claimed by employees, making sure we have the necessary receipts to support all spend Check, review and account for the time costing system used by the business Preparing the monthly financial pack for the Leadership Team and the Board, providing a view of the company performance, the balance sheet and the cash flow and to ensure effective management of liquidity and working capital Work closely with all members of the Management Team and Leadership Team. Close communication is critical to ensure the financial results and projections accurately reflect our current activity and future expected activity Manage the implementation of new accounting software suitable for a scaled business Be central to the annual budgeting process and any reforecasting exercise required by the business during any financial year Support the CFO in developing accurate forecast of business performance on a regular basis Key Business Controls Manage and develop internal systems to ensure services and products are invoiced when they are delivered to maintain an accurate understanding of revenue Support the Leadership Team by preparing and regularly comparing actual performance against the budget. Conduct variance analysis to identify and address deviations Controlling the payroll processes and ensuring all returns are submitted and liabilities are settled Set up controls to review payroll reports before processing Managing the bank account and keeping the three month visibility of cash through the weekly cash flow forecast up to date Ensure suitable financial controls are in place to support and deliver the annual external audit and support the completion of the company tax returns Own and operate the business risk register Commercial Insight Consider new accounting software platforms that could be used by the business Review the systems used by the business and identify the potential for increased efficiency and productivity in the work we do The Team While there is no team today, the requirement will be there in the future. It will therefore be necessary to consider when this additional resource is needed and at that time to take direct responsibility for employing that new resource Essential: Qualified accountant – ACCA or CIMA – or at a minimum close to completion of these exams Happy being hands-on as well as overseeing and managing finances in an owner-managed SME business Willing to take the initiative and to innovate in the interests of the business rather than waiting for instructions Excellent communicator, confident in dealing with team at all levels in an organisation Driving licence Based in, or willing to relocate to, Cardiff Able and willing to travel within the UK Preferred: Some knowledge or experience with rapidly scaling businesses Knowledge or experience of work with a hybrid consulting and software product licensing model
