To undertake withoutsupervision all major and general repairs to all types of motorvehicles and items of plant and horticultural equipment to includespecialist repairs inspections and diagnostics within the workshopand onsite.
Responsibleto carry out all repair work and scheduled maintenance of vehiclesplant & horticultural equipment including engine chassisgearbox electrical repair and preventative maintenance inline withmanufacturers specifications best practise DVSA roadworthinessstandards and service level agreements.
Responsible for maintainingappropriate knowledge in order to carry out vehicle inspections andMOT preparation in line with the requirements set out by the DVSAincluding the HGV inspection manual and Road Vehicles (Constructionand Use) Regulations2022.
Responsible for carrying outwork on and around vehicle high voltage systems safely and inaccordance with industry standard workingprocedures.
Carry out bodyworkpainting welding and fabrication within the capabilities of theworkshop.
Carry out diagnosis offaults on all systems (hydraulic pneumatic fuel electrical etc)following recognised diagnostic procedures logical diagnosticsequence and apply advanced diagnostic principles andproblemsolving techniques to establishfaults.
Use of a range ofdiagnostic equipment such as multimeters EOBD readers and otherspecialised diagnostic equipment and interpret the information todetermine faults andserviceability.
Responsible toensure for all work carried out with due regard to the safety andwelfare of others whilst maintaining work areas in a clean tidy andhygienic condition with limitedsupervision.
Responsible toundertake all assigned tasks relating to vehicle/equipment repairsand maintenance within industry standard working times to meet KPIs. Where industry standard times are unavailable the post holdershould complete tasks in a reasonable time that is agreed withtheirsupervisor/manager.
Preparation ofnew fleet items for operational and road use including theapplication of livery predelivery inspection and any requiredmodifications in line with the service usersspecification.
Mandatoryrequirement to participate in Fleet Services out of hours standbyincluding call out and on site working to meet anystakeholders/contractual requirements on a rota basis and/or tosuit business needs.
Responsibleunder the instruction of a relevant supervisor/manager to attendroadside breakdowns in all weather conditions at locations in oroutside of the borough ofSandwell.
Responsible for ensuringthe health safety and wellbeing of all vehicle/equipment users andpassengers whilst in attendance of a roadsidebreakdown.
Responsible forproviding advice guidance and training to service users drivers andcustomers with regards to vehicle operation roadworthiness defectsand repairs carried out.
Directlyresponsible for the load safety of any vehicles or assets recoveredfrom roadside or satellitedepots.
Responsible for loneworking at various stakeholder s premises/depots carrying out andcompleting various tasks with conflicting deadlines using owninitiative with no directsupervision.
To carry out variousdriving duties including general vehicle recovery vehicle andspares delivery/collection including vehicle MOT presentation inaccordance with service.
Removalof spares and equipment from obsolete fleetitems.
Responsible to use workequipment safely and in line with working procedures. Undertakingpreuse inspections of work equipment and any minor repairs withincompetency ensuring the equipment is safe to use reporting defectsto line manager.
Responsible forthe mentoring development and internal training of apprenticesand/or young persons in carrying out day to day tasks of the postholder ensuring they are trained to the competency required inorder to gain the relevant qualification completing any paperworkor observations and conducting quality control checks on taskscarried out.
To ensure theeconomic use of all items of plant equipment spare partsetc.
Responsible to use applicablefleet database system via computer tablet or relevant equipment toensure the accurate recording of worktasks.
Required to assist avariety of stakeholders including DVSA Taxi Licencing and WestMidlands Police.
Required toobtain fork lift truck licence F gas licence Tail lift LOLERcertification Award in Electric/Hybrid vehicle system repair& replacement and any other training certification orqualification deemed necessary for the servicearea.
Responsible to maintain upto date knowledge across all specialist areas of vehicle plant andequipment repair
maintenance andinspection including changes to any the applicableregulations/legislation.
To workalternating shifts to suit the businessrequirements.
