1. Inspection & Testing - Perform visual and dimensional inspections of mechanical components (e.g., pipes, valves, pumps, structural parts). - Conduct Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods like Ultrasonic Testing (UT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Dye Penetrant Testing (PT), Radiographic Testing (RT). - Verify material certifications (e.g., EN (phone number removed).1/3.2) and compliance with BS, EN, ISO, ASME, or API standards. 2. Documentation & Compliance - Maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and Quality Control Plans (QCPs). - Ensure compliance with UKCA/CE marking, Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER), PED (Pressure Equipment Directive), and other regulatory requirements. - Prepare Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Tests (WQT). 3. Welding & Fabrication QC - Monitor welding processes (e.g., TIG, MIG, Stick, Submerged Arc Welding). - Check weld integrity, alignment, and post-weld heat treatment (PWHT). - Verify Welding Inspection Records (WIRs) and Welding Data Sheets (WDS). 4. Supplier & Vendor Quality Assurance - Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT). - Review supplier documentation (Material Test Certificates, Mill Certificates). - Perform source inspections at vendor facilities. 5. Defect Management & Corrective Actions - Identify non-conformities (NCRs) and raise Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs). - Work with production teams to implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA). - Ensure rework/rejection of defective parts. 6. Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance - Follow COSHH, LOLER, PUWER regulations in the UK. - Ensure safe handling of hazardous materials and equipment. 7. Audits & Continuous Improvement - Conduct internal/external quality audits (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001). - Implement Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma principles for process improvement. Required Qualifications & Skills - Certifications: - CSWIP (Certified Welding Inspector) / PCN Level 2 (NDT) (for welding/NDT roles). - ISO 9001 Lead Auditor (for QA roles). - Degree/HND in Mechanical Engineering or relevant apprenticeship. - Experience: - Knowledge of CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines). - Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS). - Soft Skills: - Attention to detail, problem-solving, report writing, and communication
