We are looking for Secretary to provide support for the microbiology department, including five Microbiology Consultants. This post is based in the Microbiology department and you will work as part of a team of two Medical Secretaries. Within the team, your main duties will include answering telephone enquiries, arranging meetings, taking and typing meeting minutes, typing letters, data collection and analysis. The department tests and reports a wide range of pathology investigations on hospital and GP patients across a large rural catchment population. You will be communicating with a range of staff from medical consultants to laboratory assistants, and from patients and GPs. Main duties of the job To undertake support functions to the Microbiology Consultant Team, laboratory Manager and department including:- Diary Management and rota management for Consultant Microbiologists Arrangement departmental meetings, recording, typing and distribution of minutes and agendas Audio/copy typing of letter, general correspondence, reports, audits and policies: perform photocopying, scanning, faxing, emailing and distribution of post. Provide telephone cover for Microbiology Department (answering calls, results, enquiries, communicating messages, communicate/liaise with laboratory staff) Record Errors/incidents for the Microbiology Department Data Collection, analysis, excel work, PowerPoint and pivot tables Document management, control and error reporting on Qpulse system. Communication of relevant results/data to hospital infection control department Arrangement of send away samples for typing etc. at the instruction of the Management Team, Consultant Microbiologists and Infection Control Team.
