Reporting to the Catering and Hospitality Manager, the role is to supervise the front of house team and work with the kitchen team to ensure a smooth and cost-effective operation earmarked by excellent customer service and quality food and drink. Duties & Responsibilities Main responsibilities : To act as shift supervisor of the front of house team in providing a consistent and high-quality service experience for customers and enhances the reputation of the café: Taking and serving orders Beverage quality control Ensuring that the cafe’s internal and external areas are clean, tidy and well presented Ensuring that income is taken for the items sold and that the till balances at the end of the day Assist the Catering and Hospitality Manager in the day to day duties and tasks to ensure smooth running of the café. Understand the business performance of the cafe and seek continual improvement in sales, average sales and control of costs. To undertake Duty Manager duties from time to time, being responsible for site, opening and closing as per guidelines. Person Specification Qualifications At least Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification or an ability to update quickly First Aid training or an ability to update Driving licence essential Knowledge & Experience An ability to lead a team of differing skills A sense of humour and a positive attitude. An ability to support the training and development of others Sales and customer service skills An awareness of the business operation of a café Personal Attributes Be able to understand issues from others’ viewpoints and build an atmosphere of trust and openness so that others are treated with respect and dignity without discriminating or stereotyping. Be able to communicate effectively with others through the use of verbal and non-verbal communication methods. Be an active member of the team, working cooperatively with others and assisting when they need support. Provide direction and empower others to help them achieve personal learning and development targets. Be conscientious and strive to complete work to high standards and look to improve and maintain the quality of performance in themselves and others.
