****About the role
**East Devon District Council is committed to tackling poverty and this creativerole plays an integral part in aiding the production of the Councils anti-poverty strategy.
In this interesting and varied role, you will need to thinkoutside the box and source ways to support people who are facing hardshipand living in poverty.
This will include accessing discretionary funding asappropriate and working in partnership with other organisations includingCitizens Advice East Devon, Department for Works and Pensions, HousingAssociations, food banks and community groups in the voluntary sector.So, if you are an individual who is passionate about helping to address theunderlying root causes of poverty and motivated to be part of building asolution that works for our residents long term, we want to hear from you.In return we can offer you a fantastic working environment in our purpose-built offices in Honiton, along with flexibility for homeworking.

**About you
**With a good standard of education (GCSEs or equivalent), you will also ideallyhave knowledge of Welfare Benefits, Council Tax and debt recovery legislationas well as up to date knowledge of Housing, local and national policies, andthe ability to review finances and budgets to help residents maximise incomeand minimise expenditure.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills areessential to enable effective communication with a wide range of people,explaining complex legislation in a straightforward way and discussingsometimes difficult and sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
You willneed to be a team player and self-motivated to organise and manage your ownworkload whilst also possessing problem solving skills to enable you to findinnovative and creative solutions to the issues and problems facing ourresidents.A valid driving license and own car are essential (reasonable adjustments maybe possible according to the Equality Act)
