SEEKING: Senior Electrical Specialist Navy Shipyard Experience Norfolk, VA Master Marine Electrician Specialist with a complete understanding of production processes and specialty trades functions and tools. Full comprehension of standard industry safety procedures, the General Specifications for Overhaul (GSO), Controlled Work Packages (CWP), Formal Work Packages (FWP). Cognizant of the need for strict adherence to all CWPs, FWPs and test documents. Provide basic hand tools such as screw drivers, pliers, wrenches, saws and hammers. Familiarity with Marine Electrical systems to include but not limited to electric motors, motor controllers, lighting, lighting and power distribution systems, internal communications and cableways. Master level comprehension of the use of meters and test equipment including but not limited to meggers, volt, ohm and amp meters. Computer skills including the ability to log on and navigate through a series of menus/icons on a major system controlled by a central computer and the basic use of Commercial, Off The-Shelf (COTS) software, electronic mail and internet. Able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight will be determined by the specific job but no less than 30 pounds. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May require wearing a respirator. As the ship is undergoing a mid-life refueling and complex overhaul, may be exposed to fumes and irritants including welding/burning fumes, paints, oils, greases and various cleaning solutions and solvents, noise, high heat and humidity hazards while wearing the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements Experience in a supervisory role over workforce involved in the physical maintenance and repair of electrical/electronic equipment and systems. Technical instructor 20 weeks of specialized formal courses in electrical/electronics maintenance and repair of naval and marine propulsion is highly desired.
