Working across the medicine and community business units this post will strengthen the accountability structure, governance and support systems for HIV/BBV and sexual health. It will make a major contribution to achieving the aims and objectives of Medfash/BHIVA/BASHH/NICE sexual health standards and Public Health Outcomes framework 2013-14. Managerial Aspects: To contribute to service developments and coordination of an integrated model of provision and processes within the service, supporting primary and secondary healthcare, junior staff, health advising, nursing, admin staff and students. Clinical / Professional Aspects: Where appropriate to provide partner notification services for HIV/BBV across NorthumbriaHealthcare Foundation Trust and integrated sexual health services, including Infectiousdiseases. Clinical Nurse Specialist role providing expert advice on sexual health, HIV/AIDS/BBV to secondary and primary care staff as well as to members of the public. To have a sound theoretical and practical knowledge of HIV/BBV and related issues, including a comprehensive knowledge of Anti-Retro-Virals (ARV), with a commitment to keeping up to date with changing treatments in HIV. To provide the results of investigations to patients when appropriate. Ensuring appropriate follow up arrangements are made as necessary. To be responsible for the follow up and recalling of newly diagnosed HIV/BBV patients whofail to attend or make an appointment to obtain their HIV/BBV result. To provide health promotion and support to newly-diagnosed patients. To identify, manage and, where appropriate, refer patients with complications of their clinical condition.To drive uptake of HIV/BBV testing within primary care. To provide community visits for HIV/BBV patient management as well as clinic support. To support and drive the use of telehealth/ technology in the home. To support and manage clients receiving Post Exposure Prophylaxis for Occupational or Sexual exposure (PEPSE). To provide teaching / training / education of professionals and the public. To provide expert telephone support and advice to the public and professionals regardingHIV/BBV and sexual health issues.
