Aviation Recruitment experts Optime are searching for an experienced Inbound Baggage Handlers to join a well-respected and successful client at Gatwick Airport. What's on offer: Rate of pay: £15.25 per hour(rate of pay will increase to £16.88 per hour after a successful completion of 6 months employment). Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off Shift Timing: Example times below. This role will require you to be flexible to work both day and night shifts. PLEASE NOTE: APPLICANTS MUST HOLD A FULL VALID UK MANUAL DRIVING LICENCE Confirmed start dates: 7th April 2025 Key Duties: Candidates will be collecting customer's luggage from the aircraft, ensuring they are unloaded and transported to the airport on arrival. Ensuring the proper distribution of weight and balance. You will be working both airside and within the Undercroft (baggage unit). This is a manual role; candidates will need to be physically fit and able to repetitively lift and move luggage up to 30KG in weight - It is important to know that there will be downtime during your shift between arrivals or departures. You will be required to adapt to adverse weather conditions, such as rain, snow, or extreme temperatures, to ensure the safety and efficiency of ground operations. Collaborate with other ramp agents, ground handling staff, and airline personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the airport and the timely turnaround of aircraft. This role involves operating various types of vehicles to move baggage between the terminal and the aircraft. This is why a manual driving licence is required. It is a preference for successful candidates to be experienced drivers. Full training will be given. (5 days classroom-based training) Full PPE will be provided. Shifts: The Airport is operational 7 days per week and candidates will be working on a 4 on 4 off rolling rota and you will need to be fully flexible with the days and hours you can work. It is essential that you are fully flexible, and can start work as early as 3:00am. This could be subject to change Requirements: Full manual driving licence. Good attention to detail. Good verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and use initiative, while being part of a team. Right to Work in the UK. Five year fully checkable reference history to be completed prior to your start date. Ability to pass Criminal Record Check (CRC).
