Junior Sister/Charge Nurse, Outpatients, WRH

We are looking for a highly motivated Nurse who is passionate about delivering high standards of nursing care to ensure a positive patient experience. They will need to have excellent communication skills, relevant post registration experience, Mentorship qualification or equivalent and ideally some leadership experience.
There are a range of specialties catered for in our OPD's, such as Gynaecology, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Renal, Dermatology and Cardiology.
Main Duties of the Job
1. To provide expert, holistic care of a high standard to both the patients and their relatives within the Worcester Acute Hospital.
2. To take direct managerial responsibility for the clinical areas in the absence of or as delegated by the Ward Sister/Charge Nurse/Head of Department.
3. To assist in the leadership and development of an identified group of nurses within the department.
4. To act as a clinical resource within the ward and across the Care Group as necessary.
5. To act as a positive role model to junior staff members.

Job Responsibilities
1. To work according to the NMC Code and relevant professional guidelines and frameworks as key worker for a defined group of patients.
2. The assessment of care and health education needs.
3. The development, implementation, and evaluation of programmes of care including discharge planning for each patient.
4. Facilitation and teaching.
5. Management responsibilities.
6. To ensure effective communication with patients, relatives, carers, and the multidisciplinary team.
7. To participate in preceptorship programmes as appropriate and act as a facilitator/mentor/preceptor/role model to less experienced staff.
8. To provide supervision, support, and education to junior staff, unqualified staff, and students.
9. Develop, lead and manage a patient-centred nursing service delivered by professional staff ensuring the highest possible standards of care.
10. To deputise for the Departmental Manager in their absence.
11. To manage and develop new clinics/lists and staff working within the area.
12. Contribute significantly towards the strategic and operational development of the Unit.
13. Support the Departmental Manager in the recruitment and selection process of nursing staff.
14. Support the Departmental Manager in the monitoring of sickness absence.
15. To be able to work countywide as required by the Directorate/Service.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* First Level Registration. Degree or working towards. Evidence of significant Continuing Professional Development. Evidence of management experience/training. NMC recognised Teaching/Assessing qualification.
* Leadership course.
Experience
* Relevant experience at Band 5 within Outpatients or related specialty. Experience of Clinical Governance.
