We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic cardiac physiologist. The role involves rotating through invasive and non-invasive diagnostic cardiology including cardiac catheter laboratory and pacemaker/ICD implantation procedures, helping to ensure they are carried out to the highest possible standard.
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will be required to work on a rotational basis as part of the multidisciplinary team within the cardiac catheterisation laboratory, participating in an on-call rota to ensure continuous emergency cover out of hours.
2. Provide expert knowledge and skills in a range of non-invasive tests e.g. ambulatory monitoring, electrocardiography (ECG), exercise tolerance tests, and tilt table tests.
3. Understand the importance of, and keep accurate, timely and complete records and reports consistent with Trust policies and procedures.
4. Provide clinical support and expertise during basic pacemaker implants and assist with the implant of complex devices including implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronisation (CRT) devices.
5. Haemodynamic monitoring and technical support during diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterisation procedures including coronary angiography, coronary angioplasty/stenting, rotablation, intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), pressure wires, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) and use of intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), shockwave, optical coherence tomography (OCT).

Person Specification
Knowledge and Skills
* Ability to perform a broad range of non-invasive cardiac investigations.
* Competence in assisting during angiography and pacemaker implant procedures.
* Ability to recognise life-threatening conditions and respond appropriately.
* Ability to undertake complex eye-hand coordination tasks and dexterity and coordination for use of diagnostic equipment.
* Able to interpret specialist cardiac investigations and compile an accurate report.
* To be within 30 minutes of the hospital whilst on call.
* Experience of PCI / complex interventional procedures e.g. TAVI, IVUS, IABP, complex devices.
Experience
* Practical experience and familiarity with a wide range of cardiac investigations.
* Prior experience of teaching or mentoring.
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology or BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science in Cardiac Physiology or equivalent.
* ILS trained.
