Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Hepatology team as the Fibro scan team leader at NUH. This new post is funded by the Cancer Alliance to provide a smooth, patient-centred pathway for patients in high-risk communities newly identified at risk of liver disease and potentially liver cancer.
The nurse specialist will lead the team and play a key role in providing excellent support and education to patients, as well as being a vital link through all elements of this patient pathway. This is an excellent opportunity to influence the progression of this patient pathway and improve the experience of these patients.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with community services and all members of the extended multi-disciplinary team to ensure excellent coordination and management of the Fibro-scan Pathway.
The role is to act as the lead for the fibro-scan team and continue to develop this specialist diagnostic service based in both primary and secondary care as part of the Hepatology Specialist services. After training, the post holder will be responsible for clinical interactions with patients in which screening for early liver disease will be undertaken and lifestyle interventions delivered. Throughout the role, training in both underlying principles of disease and practical skills will be offered to the role holder.
Good interpersonal skills are essential with patients as it will often be their first interaction with the Hepatology team. This will lead to communication with other healthcare professionals as part of the team delivering this service. The main focus of the role is to lead the fibro scan pathway and ensure a seamless partnership between the Community GP practices and the hospital setting.
The post holder must have experience of leadership within nursing, and the ability to lead a team. Must have excellent clinical knowledge in this field of nursing. They must possess excellent communication skills and want to be part of a developing and patient-focused team.
