Department: Publishing Location: Remote first, UK Compensation: circa £30,000 Description The Content Development Editor facilitates the Editorial onboarding of all new books and second editions enabling frictionless delivery of new book products to Production liaising with Emerald's commissioning editors as well as external editors and authors as required. You will oversee the delivery of a portfolio of books in line with Emerald's standards of timely delivery, quality, customer service, and cost control. Day-to-day activities will include, including system support, on-time processing of books, problem solving, and effective communication to authors and book editors. You will need a mindset of continuous improvement, demonstrating an understanding of the changing landscape of academic publishing and actively participates in or leads projects that support Emerald's mission. Location: We perform at our best when we feel trusted and are able to choose an approach to working that suits us best, which is why we are a remote-first company. However, we also believe in face to face collaboration, and our UK colleagues meet once a month for team time and quarterly for company get togethers in our Leeds office, so we ask that you be within a commutable distance that you are comfortable with in order to attend the office on those occasions. Day to day we’ll trust you to: Manage a portfolio of allocated Civil Engineering (ICE) titles; providing expert advice on rights/permissions/copyright queries and acting as a first point of contact point for author and editor queries. Ensure quality control and on time delivery of projects. Support the integration of all new book product types into Editorial systems, applying creative problem-solving techniques to the integration of new products into existing systems, ensuring content can flow seamlessly from Editorial through to Production Actively participate in or leads projects that support Emerald's mission, with a particular focus on content onboarding. Champion best practice and consistency of process with vendors and Emerald colleagues. Work directly with outsourced cover designers to ensure timely delivery of cover proofs. Ensure the timely announcement of titles to market using BooksoniX data management, as well as keeping records up to date throughout the whole process. Liaise with our Research Integrity and Legal departments when required.
