My client in the Hornsea area of Hull is looking for a Supervisor in their Fabrication department.
Duties of the Role:
SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment & Quality)
1. Monitor, enforce, and ensure compliance with all aspects of Safety, Environmental, and Quality while encouraging high standards of adherence.
2. Read and understand the Company's SHEQ Policy and Employment Handbook.
3. Ensure your team's areas are kept in a safe and tidy condition and report items outside of your control to the General Manager.
4. Ensure all sub-contracts adhere to all the company's SHEQ Requirements while on site.
5. Conduct accident and near-miss investigations and close out with the General Manager/Production Manager.
6. Ensure all teams are adequately trained and have read all Risk Assessments and Standard Operating Procedures.
7. Write Risk Assessments and SOPs when needed.
Production Responsibilities
1. Organise, control, and direct the activities of team leaders and production operatives under your supervision.
2. Organise and control the work within the department/section according to the production plan and priorities defined by the General Manager.
3. Ensure that work is completed within the allocated time and the planned customer requirement date.
4. Control and manage Indirect Hours.
5. Ensure that all materials are used effectively, safely, and stored correctly within your team's department.
6. Ensure that job target hours are set and controlled to budget across your team.
7. Ensure that all plant, equipment, and tools within the department are maintained, working in conjunction with the Maintenance department and General/Production Manager.
HR Responsibilities
1. Control attendance and absence.
2. Resolve conflicts within your team and assist other senior supervisors in resolving disputes.
3. Maintain discipline within the department/section using company policies and processes as necessary.
4. Ensure that new/transfer employees are inducted according to company procedures and made aware of SHEQ guidance.
5. Ensure that production operatives are trained in tasks performed within the department using the company's training process.
6. Carry out formal disciplinary reviews, including return to work interviews and other minor disciplinary hearings.
7. Identify training needs with the General Manager and HR Department.
8. Any other HR requirements necessary to manage your department/section.
Essential Experience & Qualifications:
1. IOSH Training or Equivalent.
2. NVQ Level 2 Minimum or Team Leadership Course.
3. Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools.
4. Proven experience as Production Supervisor or similar role.
5. Ability to conduct first line disciplinaries.
6. Ability to read engineering drawings.
7. Ability to perform mental arithmetic for performance metrics.
