Reporting to the Sustainability Manager, the Energy Coordinator will play a critical role within the Sustainability team by supporting energy data collection and analysis across Pinewood Group’s (PG) portfolio.
This will help inform sustainability and environmental initiatives, infrastructure investments, and strategic real estate projects to further enhance Pinewood’s position as a leader in the film and TV industry. The job holder will support colleagues, contractors, tenants, and productions to ensure the accuracy of energy consumption and billing data.
This role is based within the HSSC (Health & Safety, Security, Sustainability & Compliance) department and works closely with other PG roles, including the Facility Services, Production Management, Finance, and Property functions.
This role evenly splits their time between Pinewood Studios and Shepperton Studios each week, with the option to work circa one day per week from home, as required by the Sustainability Manager.
Supports the department in the company’s delivery against its ambitious sustainability targets, whilst also supporting the Sustainability Manager in the implementation of the department’s vision and strategy fit for the next phase of sustainability action.
Key Responsibilities
* Work with the Sustainability Manager and Sustainability Advisor to fully understand the Group’s energy portfolio, including our range of facilities, supplies, expected energy consumption, and variations.
* Research and collect data from internal and external sources, including meter readings.
* Utilise data analysis techniques to highlight energy-saving opportunities in line with carbon reduction, ESOS, and other sustainability targets.
* Utilities consumption monitoring and working with our Finance team in our role as Landlord to ensure accurate energy billing for clients on the Studio Lots. The role will also support the Sustainability Manager in the compilation of the Utilities Budget.
* Ensure the upkeep and day-to-day management of the Group’s energy metering software. Tasks include upkeep of information stored (MPANs, Meter Refs. etc.), automated data inputs (AMR data accuracy), manual data inputs, system fault monitoring, automated reporting, utility invoice validation, new building set up, etc.
* Client reporting on energy consumption and efficiency opportunities across the estates, including analysis of data completeness on invoices.
* Stay up to date with energy-related regulations and standards to ensure compliance in the Group’s reporting and systems.
* Produce cost and consumption reports on gaps in data, exceptions on consumption, discussing any potential reasons behind consumption variances such as additional equipment being installed or longer/shorter occupation periods. Work with the Sustainability Manager to highlight any up-and-coming industry changes and how it might impact Pinewood Group.
* Collect and analyse energy consumption data from various sources, including buildings, equipment, and systems.
* Prepare cost-benefit analyses to demonstrate the financial viability of proposed energy-saving initiatives.
* Provide recommendations for energy-efficient upgrades, retrofits, and renewable energy integration. Prepare clear and concise reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
Nature and Scope
You will work closely with our Facility Services team to analyse energy consumption, identify areas for improvement, and implement strategies to reduce energy usage and costs. Your insights will be crucial in promoting environmental responsibility and helping to inform strategic decisions to improve the energy performance of our estates through critical analysis and research.
The job holder must be pro-active and prioritise their own workload which may include, but is not limited to, such activities as: energy system management; data analysis, assessment and reporting; meter reads, energy system and metering accuracy; and energy billing validation.
This role works within a complex environment made up of numerous internal and external stakeholders. The job holder must be able to effectively communicate and prioritise demands based on risk and business priorities and in consultation with the Sustainability Manager.
Skills and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* Experience in energy analysis, preferably in a mechanical/electrical/engineering industry.
* Knowledge of energy standards and regulations.
* Proven analytical skills.
* Excellent and demonstrable skill in Excel (modelling a bonus).
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to work with large datasets.
* Must be adept in the use of MS Office Suite.
* Ability to think creatively and generate original ideas.
* Excellent writing, presentation, and information retention skills.
* The confidence and tenacity to overcome obstacles and find solutions.
* Ability to work independently but also as part of a team.
* Experience with Power BI.
