We are looking for a functional skills tutor to join a highly regarded educational provision focused on supporting young people with disabilities as they build essential skills for work-related activities. In this role, you will primarily help students develop their English and Maths abilities, from entry level through to level 2.
Who we’re looking for:
* Previous experience in tutoring or teaching
* Minimum of a level 4 qualification
* Excellent relationship building skills and a creative approach to teaching
* Familiarity with OFSTED standards
* Experience with special educational needs is highly beneficial, although not required
Please note: This role may require travel between sites, so a valid driver’s license and access to your own vehicle is essential.
Key responsibilities:
As a functional skills tutor, you will play a vital role in guiding students towards their goals in employment, volunteering and further education by:
* Delivering sessions in Maths, English and Life Skills
* Work closely with the team to support colleague programs
* Assessing the needs of both current and prospective students
* Teaching in small groups or one-to-one settings
* Identifying learning and training opportunities for students
* Keep accurate records and tracking student progress
