Operations Assistant – Insurance
Salary: £32,000 - £35,000 per annum
We are looking for a 2022/23 graduate with 12 months Accounting experience. Our client is happy to look at candidates whose experience has been during University Placement schemes.
Ideally, you will be an Accounting, Business, Finance Graduate, but they will consider other degrees if you have had 12 months Accounting experience.
It is a trainee Financial Accountant role, working with the accounting, financial and management systems of a Global Wealth Manager. They will support further professional development for the right candidate.
Duties Include:
1. Sales ledger; calculation and accounting for fee income, including accruals, invoices, receipts and related adjustments.
2. Revenue analyses, including segmental and departmental.
3. Debtor management.
4. Revenue query resolution involving liaison with client account directors, administrators and the wider business.
5. Maintenance of client billing data and payment details.
6. Month end analyses and journal postings; accruals, prepayments and other journals.
7. Management accounts and balance sheet reconciliation support.
8. Variance analysis to prior actual and budget.
9. Bank account management.
10. Bank reconciliations.
11. Cash postings.
12. Purchase ledger support – supplier and expenses queries, processing and payment.
13. Assist in the production of statutory financial statements; and External audit support.
14. Communication with external bodies such as banks, advisers, third party administrators and auditors.
15. Attend meetings and present suggestions in writing/verbally.
16. Propose improvements to processes, controls and systems.
17. Maintain up to date procedural documentation.
18. Understand and adhere to financial and accounting regulations.
19. Assist with accounting/financial tasks and projects, as required.
Required Job Skills:
1. Good knowledge of accounting fundamentals (accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, trial balance, double entry accounting).
2. Highly proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Office software.
3. Study path towards a professional accountancy qualification.
4. Experience of established accounting software, preferably Sun Systems/Vision.
5. Knowledge/experience of the financial services industry.
KPI’s:
1. Accurate calculation and accounting for income, sales invoices, receipts and fee adjustments.
2. Timely invoicing and cash collection in line with established timetable.
3. Accurate ledger coding for all posted transactions.
4. Act in the spirit of the core values of the business and promote those values where possible within working practices.
5. Adhere to all internal policies including Finance procedures and error reporting protocols.
6. Immediate escalation of issues/problems to line manager and/or Head of Finance or CFO as they arise.
