The National Library of Scotland is seeking a Video Preservation Technician to join its small, dynamic digitisation team working on an internal project to digitally preserve moving image collections held on video formats. This role contributes to our ambitious goals of having one third of the Library’s holdings available in digital format. The right candidate will work closely with other Moving Image Archive staff.
Responsibilities:
1. Work on the digitisation of moving image collections.
2. Collaborate with Moving Image Archive staff.
Qualifications:
1. Demonstrable passion for moving image formats.
2. Ability to be self-motivated and organised to deliver planned work to deadlines.
3. Knowledge of both analogue and digital video equipment.
4. Experience in editing moving images using non-linear editing software.
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
6. Problem-solving skills.
7. Advantageous: experience in a moving image production environment and handling archival material.
