Exciting opportunity for an experienced advocate to take on a key role, advising on an interesting mix of high-value and complex international commercial litigation work. Joining a small team within a large multi-office firm, you will work closely with some of the most respected litigators in the offshore world, on matters such as contractual and shareholder disputes, financial services disputes, contentious insolvency, asset tracing/injunctions, and high-value trust disputes. You will also be encouraged to play an active part in client development and will supervise, and help to develop, more junior colleagues. The role will involve regular court work.
British Virgin Islands
For some, the BVI is the pick of the Caribbean. A mountainous, rain-forested interior surrounded by picture-postcard bays, it is probably not far from the idyllic image that might cross your mind when you ponder whether there is ‘more to life’. It’s not for everyone. You will need to be comfortable with a slower pace, you will see its remoteness as a gift rather than an inconvenience, and you will be the sort of person who gets more out of sailing, diving, or relaxing on the beach than you do from the buzz of city life. If that’s you, you will love it here. Not to mention that the work, much of it emanating out of China/Asia, is some of the most interesting and challenging in the sector.
Process
Interviews will take place by videoconference with start dates typically around 4-6 months later. Our clients provide comprehensive assistance with visas and relocation, including temporary accommodation on arrival.
Package
The salary will be highly competitive, with a low tax rate (c8%). Comprehensive benefits, bonus, and relocation package (flights + temporary accommodation on arrival + expenses allowance).
Requirements
You will need to be an experienced and confident advocate, with a background in a good chancery / commercial set of chambers, or alternatively, in a role with a respected commercial law firm where you are regularly in court. You are likely to have at least five years’ relevant experience post-admission and must be qualified in the UK (or BVI) for work permit reasons.
