Job summary East Street Surgery is a well-established Practice in North Southwark with excellent road links. We are looking for a part-time GP at 6 sessions per week (£11,000 per session) who is: Enthusiastic, proactive and forward-thinking Flexible and a good team worker taking active part in the practice daily life including practice meetings, education programmes & PLT. Involvement in QOF and population management to achieve high targets Our Practice aim is to deliver a high standard of compassionate care to all our patients of all ages and of a mixed demographic population. The post-holder will have an opportunity to take part in leading on key disease areas (monitoring trends in the Quality and Outcomes Framework, treatment) and assist in developing appropriate healthcare services for a diverse, patient list Main duties of the job In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will undertake clinical sessions which is normally composed of face-to-face appointments together with telephone appointments, followed by a variety of duties including: conducting physical examinations, tests or procedures to diagnose patients good understanding and experience of chronic disease management and primary prevention making recommendations for lifestyle changes to improve the patients quality of life management of prescription, lab reports; resolving clinical queries including medical reports; Home visits. QOF and reminders during a routine consultation ie. 10 minutes. Provide all GP services required as part of the PMS contract held between the practices and the commissioning primary care agency, including all core services such as Child Health Surveillance Undertake Duty Doctor and Paperwork Doctor duties (lab results, Docman letters) Respond to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment, and referral where appropriate. Provide appropriate preventative health care and advice. Provide medical support as required to patients referred by nursing staff Provide free certification in line with Schedule 9 of NHS GMS Regulations (1992). Make professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation; Record clear and contemporaneous IT based consultation notes to agreed standards; Collect data for audit purposes; Compile and issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible); In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care. Supporting the practice staff and responding to requests for advice and assistance from the practice reception, admin and nursing staff. Attend prescribing, palliative care, clinical and practice meetings. You will be expected to take part in clinical meetings, be prepared to chair these and present clinical topics as required for the maintenance of educational standards and high-quality care.
