The Defence School of Logistics and Administration (DSLA) one of 3 Schools in the Defence College of Support (DCSp) delivers training to all Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air-force personnel in Supply, Distribution, Catering and Personnel Administration. We are predominantly based at Worthy Down, a newly built, modern campus in Winchester.
The role sits within the Catering Training Wing (CTW) of DSLA, providing initial and continuation training for all our Military chefs. Catering Training Wing is seeking a Senior Food safety Instructor within the team. The successful applicant will be responsible for administrating and delivering training in Food Safety and Health and Safety up to Level 4 and for ensuring compliance with Food Safety standards across the department. Your outputs will ensure Defence Catering personnel are fully prepared for their future role�s and that the Catering Training wing maintains it�s standards as a centre of Catering excellence.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
You will drive the Culinary Courses at the Catering Training wing (CTW) - Defence�s Centre of Catering Excellence - by managing the Food Safety training of military catering personnel up to Level 4 standard, while also developing and optimising courses to make sure they remain relevant in an ever-changing will also be responsible for the Food Safety culture of CTW; planning, influencing, directing, organising and controlling all Food Safety matters to ensure the Wing maintains its high standards.�
You will collaborate with senior managers, using your expertise to aid their decision making and management of the Catering Training Wing through the provision of strategic oversight and guidance.�
Specific tasks the Senior Instructor Food Safety will carry out are;�
1. Deliver Food Safety and Health and Safety Training up to Level 4 standard.
2. Coordinate the management of Safety training with awarding bodies.
3. Oversee and direct Food Safety practices within the wing.
4. Provide expert Food Safety advice and guidance to the wing to enable effective management of risks and compliance with legal responsibilities.
5. Act as a member of the department management team.�

We are seeking applicants who are forward thinking, have initiative and can work proactively. Due to the variety of ranks of Service Personnel (SP) and grades of Civil Servants (CS), applicants will need to be effective communicators and confident to develop trusting working relationships with a variety of stakeholders and trainees.��
Successful candidates will have catering experience at a managerial level with a proven track record of delivering training programmes to various levels of ability from apprentices at level 2 to junior leaders at level 4.�
It is advantageous, though not essential; if applicants have;�

8. Chef experience to at least Supervisory level�
