Job Summary
You will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for utility laying projects, including water, gas, electricity, telecommunications, and sewage systems. The role involves detailed analysis of project requirements, material take-offs, labour costing, equipment usage, and subcontractor quotations to ensure profitability and compliance with client specifications.
Key Responsibilities for Estimator:
* Analyse project plans, specifications, and other documentation to determine scope of work.
* Review utility layouts, site conditions, and construction drawings.
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for utility installation, including trenching, pipe and conduit laying, backfilling, testing, and reinstatement.
* Accurately calculate costs for materials, labour, equipment, and overheads.
* Assess risks and include contingencies where appropriate.
* Develop and submit comprehensive tender proposals.
* Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQs) in alignment with project requirements.
* Collaborate with procurement and supply chain teams to obtain competitive supplier quotes.
* Apply knowledge of utility standards and regulations, such as pipe bedding specifications, separation requirements, and depth of cover guidelines.
