Location: Yorkshire Region (Accessible from Skipton, York, Harrogate, Leeds, Sheffield, and surrounding areas)
We are currently seeking an experienced Mobile Mechanical Plant Fitter to join our client's team, working on rollers, pavers, JCBs, and other plant equipment across the Yorkshire region. This role is part of their 24/7 engineering function, maintaining plant equipment for motorways and local authority road projects.
If you have experience with agricultural equipment like JCB tractors or combine harvesters, or paving plant equipment, this is the perfect opportunity to bring your expertise to a dynamic and supportive team.

Working hours : start time 7am or 8am, Days 45hrs/week
What Youll Do
* Responding to plant breakdowns – ensuring assets are returned to production in a timely manner, and temporary fixes are followed up with a permanent solution
* Undertaking emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all production equipment
* Owning small scale projects and delivering them in a pragmatic and proactive manner
* Taking a cost-conscious approach to maintenance activities and coordinating with contractors and suppliers when they are on site
* Participating in root cause analysis so repeat failures can be eliminated
* Contributing to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through your own observations and experience
* Working with risk assessments and method statements and contributing to the preparation and development of safe working methods for repair procedures
* Maintaining and promoting Health & Safety rules and regulations, following all company processes and procedures
* Challenging unsafe conditions and practices, reporting these through company procedures
* Utilising the computerised maintenance management system and recording all work including fault descriptions, spares used, and repairs carried out. Using application-based inspection schemes
Requirements
• A recognized apprenticeship (higher-level standard preferred).
• Practical mechanical systems experience in industrial, agricultural, or similar environments.
• Strong background in heavy industry systems like conveyors, drive systems, motors, belts, pumps, gearboxes, and crushers.
• Welding and fabricating skills are preferred.
• Fault-finding ability with a proactive approach to repairs.
• IT literacy and experience with application-based inspection schemes.
• Commitment to Health & Safety standards and a strong understanding of site-specific SHE (Safety, Health & Environmental) procedures.
• Flexibility to attend plant-specific training and travel across the Yorkshire region.
• Full UK driving licence with less than 6 points (company van and fuel card provided).
• CPC qualification or willingness to train.
