The successful candidate would work with our STEM team to ensure the delivery of first class teaching across the school from Year 4 to Year 9. The profile of Moreton Hall as a Centre of Excellence for STEM teaching has been growing year on year and we are looking for a candidate to join a team that is committed to building on this reputation.
At Moreton Hall we are passionate about STEM and the Science department is at the forefront of delivering outstanding STEM teaching. With a large number of pupils going on to study STEM subjects at university following GCSE and A Level results, we are looking for an outstanding teacher to join our department to teach Science to our Junior pupils from Years 4 to 6 and Key Stage 3, primarily Physics to our pupils in Years 7 to Year 9. Teaching Physics at GCSE level would also be advantageous.
Job Outline and Responsibilities
The role includes but is not limited to the following duties:
* Teach Science.
* Lead and/or participate in extracurricular activities offered by the department.
* Be familiar, confident and innovative with the use of ICT in STEM teaching.
* Assist in the development of STEM as a career choice for pupils at Moreton Hall.
* Participate fully in the life of this busy boarding school. A strong commitment to our extracurricular activities programme would be of particular importance.
* Be enthusiastic, reliable and flexible in approach.
Person Specification
Qualifications:
* A relevant degree in Physics or a related science discipline.
* Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.
Experience :
* Experience of teaching Junior Science and KS3 Physics is essential.
* Teaching any STEM subject to GCSE would also be advantageous.
Personal Qualities:
* Highly proficient Scientist, confident and capable to teach Science across the junior and middle schools.
* An enthusiastic, organised, team-player, ready to nurture aspiration whilst managing expectations.
* The ability to work within a team but also independently, taking initiative when necessary.
* Critical evaluation of self, the ability to reflect upon own practice to inform future development.
* Energy and enthusiasm to inspire pupils in Physics and Science.
