The Major Projects Team lead on the delivery of regeneration and development projects that support the Council’s vision for the Capital’s regeneration and future development in line with the Wellbeing of Future Generations and the Council’s Greener, Fairer, Stronger City-Recovery and Renewal Strategy.
As a Corporate Apprentice you will be supported in the workplace to develop the skills you need to make an effective contribution to our Service. You will be provided with a range of workplace activities and experiences, as directed by the manager, and will undertake a range of duties and learning opportunities including, but not limited to, those listed below, whilst also undertaking and completing a relevant Apprenticeship qualification.
1. To become competent in the following activities by the end of the apprenticeship period.
• Gain an understanding of working within a Programme and Project Management environment, and how this is delivered in Cardiff Council.
• Gain an understanding of the Political and Officer led decision making processes for the Local Authority.
• Gain knowledge and skills to support development in a range of project management, stakeholder engagement and project governance tasks and activities including:
o Scheduling and attending meetings and taking notes
o Updating records, databases and plans
o Undertaking basic research and analysis
o Support tasks to create and develop project management documentation
2. To develop transferrable workplace skills e.g.
• To be proactive, adaptable and responsive to change
• To assist with the provision of a high-quality service
• To develop organisational skills that enable you to manage your workload and schedule effectively, including homeworking skills
• To support internal and external customer requests
• To seek to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.

• To assist other team members in the carrying out of their duties
• To work with others to carry out duties linked to the section in which the Apprentice is placed.
• To receive training and development experiences as required.

Corporate Requirements

5. Although you will be provided with a base, you will be required to work from various locations in accordance with the needs of the role.
