About the Role:
Due to our continued success and business growth, we have an interesting opportunity for a driven and engaging Transport Operations Manager to join the Team on our flagship Screwfix contract based in Stafford.
This is an exciting opportunity to manage an array of teams within the operation including Transport Team Managers, Transport Administrators, and Drivers.
Consisting of 58 Trucks, 8 Rigids, and 153 Trailers between Stafford & Portbury.
Shift pattern: Any 5 out of 7 days, 08:00–20:00 (dependent on operational needs) 37.5 hours per week.
How will you contribute?
* You will be responsible for meeting the budgetary and financial goals of the site.
* Your main responsibilities include the effective management of a team of drivers, shunters, and Transport Team Managers to achieve the highest standards of productivity.
* By proactively motivating the team, you will provide guidance and encouragement to ensure that they achieve planned targets and deadlines.
* You will play a key role in the continual improvement of process/methods of the site's operating procedures.
* You will be responsible for legislative compliance for all driver-related Health & Safety issues, equipment management, and tachograph management.
* Completion of data analysis, including tracking of KPI’s of Delivery on Time, Delivery Success, and other customer-associated KPI’s.
* Internal and external stakeholder communication, including meetings with customers, conveying facts and ideas in a clear and articulated manner.
What will you bring?
* International or National CPC holder.
* Previous experience holding an O’Licence with the expectation to become the O’Licence holder for Stafford and our outbases in Portbury with the requirement of overseeing operations.
* Management experience of large office and driver teams of 100+.
* Have a passion for transport compliance with strong knowledge in transport legislation.
* Experienced people-centric leader with demonstrated experience in culture change.
* Experience of operating at Transport Manager level with solid transport knowledge.
* Should have successful practical experience of supervisory or management work within a transport operation.
* Excellent communication skills and confidence in dealing with customers.
* Excellent organisational skills and be able to demonstrate a commitment to delivering consistent quality in a time-constrained operation.
* Have sound analytical skills and apply logic in a fast-moving environment.
* Exhibit a high degree of flexibility and be able to work as part of a team.
