Our client who has been established since 1988 and is a market leader in the division of engineering services is looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join their team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong proficiency in Sage accounting software and a solid understanding of bookkeeping principles. Salary: Up to £35,000 DOE Location: Caterham Hours: 9.00am to 5.30pm - available as a Full-time or Part-time (flexible) opportunity Duties & Responsibilities: Manage Accounts Receivable: Oversee the entire process, including generating sales invoices and handling credit control. Handle Accounts Payable: Prepare and execute weekly payment runs, ensuring timely and accurate processing. Resolve Queries: Act as the primary contact for investigating and addressing customer and supplier inquiries. Monitor Accounts Mailbox: Efficiently manage incoming financial queries and process relevant transactions. VAT Compliance: Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns, ensuring full compliance with HMRC regulations. Finance Administration: Support general financial tasks and record-keeping. Payroll Processing: Oversee end-to-end monthly payroll, distribute payslips, and submit RTI reports to HMRC. Pension Contributions: Process and submit monthly pension payments. Timesheet Management: Collect and review monthly timesheets from engineers. Bank Reconciliation & Cash Flow: Reconcile bank statements and maintain accurate cash flow records. Expense Management: Process and approve staff expense claims Experience & Skills Required: Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping or a similar financial role. Must have AAT Level 3 or above. Proficiency in accounting software, with a strong preference for Sage 50 Accounts. In-depth knowledge of accounts payable processes and core accounting principles. Exceptional attention to detail and strong organisational skills. Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently. Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the business. Accounting qualifications are desirable but not essential. Experience within a project-based or construction environment is beneficial but not required. For your information: Interested?
