Manufacturing Scientist Edinburgh Permanent £28,000 - £32,000 plus additional paid benefits Our client is a dynamic, growth-oriented company seeking a Manufacturing Scientist whose skills and expertise will play a key role in advancing their cutting-edge technology. Operating within an ISO 9001-accredited environment, the Manufacturing Scientist must adhere to controlled processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) while actively contributing to production planning and execution. The ideal candidate will have a proactive approach, strong accountability, and the ability to effectively communicate progress to the Manufacturing Operations Manager and broader team. Areas of responsibility and primary objectives Cell Culture & Differentiation: Perform aseptic culturing of human iPSCs, including expansion, maintenance, and banking. Differentiate iPSCs into specific cell types (neurons, cardiomyocytes, microglia, astrocytes, etc.) using established protocols. Conduct routine monitoring of cell morphology, viability, and confluency to ensure optimal conditions. Ability to conduct QC testing assays including PCR, ICC and flow cytometryManufacturing & Quality Control: Manufacture iPSC-derived products and cell culture media following SOPs and ISO 9001 standards. Ensure batch-to-batch consistency, reproducibility, and high quality of all products. Maintain comprehensive documentation for manufacturing and quality control processes to ensure full traceability.Production Planning & Execution: Assist in the planning and scheduling of production runs to meet customer demand and commercial targets. Coordinate production efforts across multiple sites, including R&D, ensuring smooth knowledge transfer. Procure stock and manage inventory to optimize production efficiency and maintain stock levels. Present progress updates in operations meetings as required.Compliance & Laboratory Operations: Support QA processes to maintain compliance with ISO 9001 quality management system. Perform laboratory housekeeping, including stock control, equipment monitoring, and waste disposal. Provide out-of-hours coverage for cell culture on a rotational basis.
