Litigation Solicitor - Welsh Local Authority
Location: South Wales
Contract Type: 3 months with view to extend
Rate: Negotiable DOE
Key Responsibilities
* Provide legal advice on litigation, regulatory prosecutions, governance, and public law.
* Represent the Council in court, tribunals, hearings, and inquiries.
* Conduct civil and criminal litigation, ensuring high-quality case preparation and advocacy.
* Support judicial review proceedings and regulatory compliance matters.
* Advise on education law, including school admission appeals and policy interpretation.
* Assist in the development and implementation of Council policies and governance structures.
* Work collaboratively with senior legal officers and council stakeholders to deliver effective legal services.
About You
* Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current practising certificate.
* Experience in criminal litigation and prosecutions, preferably in a local authority setting.
* Knowledge of public law and local government procedures.
* Strong advocacy and litigation skills with the ability to manage a diverse caseload.
* Excellent communication, drafting, and negotiation skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
