Location Information (on-site):
This role supports our Lab Automation group, an ISO 9001 certified organization, in the European region, working closely with the Integration Supervisor based in our Canada office. Our team designs, manufactures, and installs robotic solutions globally, accelerating drug discovery and synthetic biology research for major pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers.
How you will make an impact:
As an Automation Technician, you will construct and integrate all levels of mechanical and electrical assemblies and standard equipment, including the testing of automated robotic system components. You will work in a project team setting to successfully complete the assigned lab automation projects on time and as per specified customer requirements.
What you will contribute:
* Capable of building major subassemblies, and peripheral equipment including systems assembly
* Pre-shipping inspection of integrated robot systems as required
* Troubleshoot automated robotic system issues when required
* Work with minimal supervision
* Manage workload within team and adjust excesses/shortages as required
* Participate in peer training amongst operations team
* Contribute to lean manufacturing philosophy through suggestions of how to improve processes (i.e. cycle time reduction, safety enhancement) and/or products (i.e. cost reduction, quality improvement)
* Assist other departments, including documentation with product and process improvements
* Assist Quality in determining part defects and non-conformances.
* Contributes to documentation, record keeping, and reporting the project status.
* Preparing and packaging of robotic systems for shipment
* Assist integration team with installation at customer sites when needed
* Other duties as assigned
How will you get here?
Education and Experience:
* College graduate in electrical or mechanical disciplines, or equivalent experience
* A minimum of 3 years’ experience in building mechanical and electrical assemblies
Knowledge & Skills:
* Mechanically adept with blueprint reading / drawing knowledge
* Troubleshooting techniques
* Familiarity with testing and measuring equipment
* Mechanically inclined
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* Organization, planning and time management skills
Other Requirements:
* Valid Driver’s License
* Valid Passport
* Ability to Travel 25% of the time domestically & internationally without restrictions
