Contract type: 1 x 6 month attachment / fixed term contract/attachment (ideally to start w/c 21st April 2025)
Location: Office base is Central Square, Cardiff. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will require to be in the office a minimum of 3 days per week.

Job Introduction
In 2021, the BBC announced plans to move even more of our productions to bases across the UK. The creation of BBC Audio Wales and the West of England as a new hub within BBC Audio has seen radio production teams in Cardiff and Bristol lead the way with a variety of programmes and podcasts. Our areas of production include science, current affairs, factual, rural affairs, food, documentaries, books, arts, music and drama. Staff have opportunities to collaborate, develop ideas and further their careers across a wide variety of output for all the BBC Radio networks, the World Service and BBC Sounds.
The BBC Audio Science department within this hub are in a position to appoint a Production Co-ordinator on a Fixed Term Contract or attachment to work with our team based in Central Square, Cardiff. If successful, you’ll be part of a team of PCs working on programmes such as Inside Health, All in the Mind, Crowd Science and Unexpected Elements. The right person will be an excellent organiser and team player. You’ll have a good knowledge of Audio, superb administrative and business skills and an interest in Radio 4 and World Service programmes.
Main Responsibilities
The Production Co-ordinator provides logistical and co-ordination support to the production team on one or more productions, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
As a Production Co-ordinator You Will
* Work in partnership with editorial colleagues to deliver outstanding, distinctive, multiplatform content by providing the ways to realise editorial ambitions within operational and financial constraints.
* Compile pre and post production paperwork, as well as any other programme metadata required.
* Clear copyright material for all platforms.
* Support both the prep and TX of live programmes.
* Book and procure resources required to deliver the programmes.
* Provide administrative support for the production office.
* Negotiate artist and contributor fees.
Are you the right candidate?
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Proven track record of playing a co-ordinating role within a production team.
* Demonstrable experience working on radio productions (podcasts, live progs and OBs desirable).
* Experience of delivering a range of/parts of productions on time and on budget and coordinating deliverables for productions.
* Good working knowledge of end-to-end multi-platform production with a level of technical awareness.
* Excellent organisational and planning skills; able to schedule and prioritise people and activities to meet operational deadlines.
* Able to use and advise on production systems and adopt new technologies on productions. Knowledge of digital audio workstations, financial & purchasing systems as well as travel & delivery and archiving platforms advantageous.
* Know how to identify and source suitable resources and negotiate deals within given parameters.
* Business and finance skills; able to prepare, manage and/or monitor specific production resource plans and budgets.
* Knowledge of the BBC and the wider industry.
