Our client, a leading aerospace organisation in Wimborne, is looking for a talented Structural Stress Engineer to join their dynamic stress office. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge products like aerial refueling and store carriage & jettison equipment, supporting the entire product lifecycle from design to production.
You will be involved in a variety of stress-related activities, including mass analysis, load derivation, and both classical and finite element analysis (FEA). These analyses will be performed at component, sub-assembly, and system levels, encompassing static, fatigue, and dynamic assessments.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Take ownership of stress deliverables to meet design review requirements.
2. Provide support to the manufacturing engineering team and assist with production processes.
3. Offer technical support for concessions and design modifications.
4. Collaborate with R&D teams to contribute stress expertise in new product development.
5. Review existing FEM (Finite Element Models) and reports, investigating deviations and design changes.
Qualifications and Experience:

2. While aerospace industry experience is beneficial, we welcome candidates with a strong understanding of:
1. Supporting the design process in collaboration with design engineers.
2. Building FE models, running analyses, post-processing results, and authoring reports for metallic and composite structures.
3. Static strength and fatigue analysis of metallic/composite structures using hand calculations and FEA.
4. Writing stress reports to verify compliance with structural and performance requirements.
5. Understanding engineering drawings and the drawing change process.
Desirable Skills:
1. Experience with LCM systems like SmarTeam or Windchill.
2. Proficiency in linear static FE analysis using tools such as MSC Patran/Nastran.
3. Knowledge of low-cycle fatigue analysis, dynamic/impact analysis, and vibration analysis.
