Cockenzie Primary School is a school with approx 420 children in our nursery and primary classes. An exciting opportunity is now available to join our team at Cockenzie Primary School as Class Teacher.
Our values of Curious, Positive, Successful and Respectful are embedded throughout our school and we are searching for an enthusiastic teacher who displays these values.
It is desirable that the successful candidate has Early Years teaching experience and who has experience of implementing Play Pedagogy, with the initial teaching commitment in a Primary 2/1 class until June 2025. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate and model excellent teaching.
Job Details
1. To undertake class-teaching duties.
2. Teach assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction.
3. Develop the school curriculum.
4. Assess, record and report on the work of pupils.
5. Prepare pupils for examinations and assist with their administration.
6. Provide advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education.
7. Promote and safeguard the health, welfare and safety of pupils.
8. Work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.
9. Undertake appropriate and agreed Career Long Professional Development (CLPL).
10. Participate in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review.
11. Contribute towards good order and the wider needs of the school.

Appropriate primary qualification.
Permanent Posts: GTCS Full registration (General).
Temporary Posts: GTCS Full registration (General) / Provisional registration.
PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
