Carbon60 are currently working with one of the UK's leading chemical manufacturing companies to recruit an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental Officer based on site in West Brom.
This business is a leader within their field, working across a wide variety of sectors that include Pharmaceutical, Agrochemical, FMCG, and manufacturing. Due to the continued expansion of the company, they are looking to increase the team with an experienced SHE Officer to assist with the development and implementation of the site SHE programmes.
This role will be hired on a permanent basis and will need to be based full time on site working 36.25 hours per week (08:45 - 16:30 Monday to Friday).
Role Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Production and Engineering Management teams in developing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
2. Assist with the maintenance of the site's environmental management system.
3. Ensure suitable SHE inspection and auditing programmes are established, completed and implemented, including maintenance/follow up of corrective action databases.
4. Support the development and delivery of Site Safety Meetings and other SHE communications.
5. Review, devise, write and implement suitable health, safety and environmental procedures.
6. Advise, coach and mentor employees on compliance with their legal health and safety duties.
7. Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, issuing reports and ensuring SHE Incident log is up to date and maintained.
8. Support the delivery of SHE training and manage the competency matrix.
9. Maintain competent authority communication logs.
10. Emergency preparedness - Ensure Safety Data Sheets and COMAH Compliance.
11. Review area fire risk assessments.
Skills and Experience:
1. Health and Safety experience gained from manufacturing, preferably high hazard industry, chemicals and CoMAH preferred.
2. Risk assessment review and development experience.
3. Incident investigation, root cause analysis, auditing and report writing.
4. NEBOSH certificate essential.
5. Knowledge of current SHE legislation/regulation.
6. Knowledge of Process Safety, Human Factors and Behavioural Safety is an advantage.
